And the sap is rising..balmy afternoons in the studio, painting should be about feeling a mood and atmosphere if it means something to you then it works ..hope this doe's let me know what you think.
Many happy hours spent whiled away down on the allotment this chap looks like Geoff Hamilton's favorite expression which was, sometimes i sit and think but sometimes i just sit. I hope this captures that expression
You know these are just personal images and text that i have put together to share, with people but it's often the case that it's better to give than to receive, and when you get something back well it makes your efforts seem worth while. If only one person "you" maybe is informed or pleased you have made a connection, you click me and i click you it's how communication is done. This way i share my paintings and thoughts, the internet can then be a virtual Gallery where you stroll around and if you like a particular painting it's as though the artist is there, you can ask certain questions, give praise or criticism wich benefits both the veiwer and the artist so this collection of images are just for you (who ever you may be) hope to talk with you soon cheers steve
Since the dawn of time people have frequented taverns, these have been captured by brilliant artists like Hogarth, and Jan Steen, i offer humble contemporary character paintings today..which i hope captures the eathy crusty humour and atmosphere of a bygone age
A day at the seaside, a journey if you like a creative journey..two old folk sat in their deckchairs wathing the world speed by the sun setting on their dreams and asperations, Unlike still life paintings which dipicts inanimate objects i mean it wasn't untill the Renaissance that it appeared in it's own right rather than just a prop! so for hundreds of years wev'e been painting dead duck's and cabbages..
If you paint a strawberry tart that's it!..there's no story, naration, mood, atmosphere you can't identify with having been there or felt like that, it is simply an object..would you hang a pickled onion on your wall it may be well done but hardly a talking point, oh look an onion yeh right!
What happened to he looks sad or it makes me happy or i feel i know him.
It's strange how some paintings take forever, and get few comments and others seem to take 5 mins and are appreciated, maybe it's like constable's oil sketches now regarded by many as superiour to his polished peices where he slaved over them for months.., there's no ryme or reason to art, drive's you bloody mad!
quote.. The bloggers are just "a little blip in the art world, something that will fill a niche for those people who want to buy something real and not just a poster."
Like anything of note..eg ROME it wasn't made in a bloody day! Looking through these one day masterpeices, it becomes apparent why most decent thing's take a little longer..it's a bit like you think you sound like Pavaroti when your singing along in the car but sadly to everyone else you don't..probably because he's spent years working and training his voice, but you instantly strike sound, and think how hard can it be, huh. Everybodies an artist RIGHT! Maybe genuine struggling artists out there might want to try one med painting a week,..whether or not it matters not a jot, i for my part will give it a go..
